Mr. Worldwide has been named the most influential Latino of 2015 by People en Español. He is featured on the cover of the magazine’s Los 50 Más Influyentes edition, out now.

In case the magazine isn’t available where you are, or you are unable to purchase it, Pitbull Updates has the full interview in Spanish and English, plus scans of Pit’s section in the issue!

Read the interview in English below!

Pitbull greets me with a firm handshake and opens the door to the ladies, at least he did during the photo shoot in Miami. And an exclusive interview? It was granted in the backseat of a luxury car as his driver took him to a meeting to finalize the details of the series, Life, based on his musical tour that Spike TV is airing.

In fact, his new CD, Dale (from the label Mr. 305 Inc.), was created in airplanes, yachts, hotels and islands across the globe. Thanks to him not sitting still, his music stands today on radio and in countless clubs, his mischievous smile adorns billboards and he has his own vodka, clothing line, perfume and restaurants – which has let him become an unstoppable global force and People en Español’s most influential figure of the year.

How did he get the name Pitbull? “A friend of mine gave me the name because I have forever been fighting very hard with words, in life, in my career… biting, no barking,” he says with laughter. The Cuban American, Armando Christian Perez, 34, doesn’t forget his origins. He learned the art of survival from his mother, grandmother and aunt. “Women raised me,” he says. “They taught me to be thorough, organized. I earned this intuition they have.”

Intuition that led him to change the course of his life. An argument with his mother, Alysha Acosta, who warned him that if he continued in the drug world, he would have to leave home when he was still a teenager, straighten his steps. Today, he motivates other kids attending his charter school SLAM! in Miami – that emphasizes sports and instills leadership – to let the kids also go “from negative to positive.”

In fact, his six children are his engine. “Being a dad is the only true love that I have,” says the artist, whose fortune amounted to $12 million in 2014 according to Forbes magazine. “For me, the most important thing is to teach by example.” So it takes time, but his busy schedule seems like an action movie. “My life is like James Bond,” he jokes. And if he has a Bond girl? “There’s always room for love,” he admits, “but these beings are the most protected.”

Besides singing in his New Year’s party in Miami (which will air on FOX on December 31), Pitbull wants to fulfill the dream that one day he will sing with Celia Cruz; and sing in Cuba after it becomes free. “[I want to] sing for her, for everyone who died without seeing or touching this land,” he says. His own dreams, he adds, have already come true. “I am the best example of the American dream, and that is not a lie” he says. “If you want to, go and fight me.”

The Songs on Pitbull’s Playlist may Surprise You.

image
Mr. Worldwide is everywhere these days! Whether he’s promoting his #1 album, Dale, performing at his Vegas residency, Time of our Lives, or guest appearing on shows like, Empire, he’s constantly on the run! Recently, USA Today got a chance to catch up with Armando to find out what’s on his playlist!

September by Earth, Wind & Fire

It’s a song that no matter when it’s played, everyone gets up and starts to party. It’s always on my playlist.

All Night Long by Lionel Richee

This song reminds of being a little kid in the ’80s and making me feel happy, no matter what was going on.

Hero by Mariah Carey

This song helped me get through a lot of struggles. To this day, it still motivates me to find that there’s a hero inside me everyday.

To be Real by Cheryl Lynn

This song’s message is everything—especially in a society that’s so connected. Listening to this song is a good way to disconnect and be real.

The way you Make me Feel by Michael Jackson

It’s a jamming song. It’s the first video where I saw Michael Jackson shouting out to a girl.

Everybody Wants to rule the World by Tears for Fears

The melody is classic 80’s. And everyone wants to rule the world.

Vivir mi Vida by Marc Anthony

This song is what it’s all about. It’s living life and not letting life live you.

Lookout Weekend by Debbie Deb

Reminds me of being in roller-skate rinks ducking and dodging skaters to get to the dance floor in the middle of the rink to dance with the girls. Fun fact: I still don’t know how to roller skate.

Juicy by The Notorious B.I.G

I relate to everything in this song. That’s my motto: from negatives to positives.

Here I go Again by Whitesnake

Love this record. I relate to the song because I’m a loner—and how could anyone ignore Tawny Kitaen in the video?

Pitbull Talks About Giving fans the Time of Their Lives in Vegas

image
Prior to kicking off his mini-residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Mr. 305 talked to Vegas.com about becoming Mr. 702!

Take a look at the article below!

¡Dale! All we can say is that when (not if) you go to see Pitbull at Planet Hollywood, make sure you wear your dancing shoes; you’ll be moving, shaking and dropping in ways you maybe didn’t know were possible.

Kicking off his seven-show, “Time of Our Lives” residency last night with his chart-topping “Don’t Stop the Party,” it took one word out of Mr. Worldwide’s mouth to have the 7,000-member audience in the Axis Theater at Planet Hollywood up on their feet and dancing.

Joined onstage by his band and his troupe of sumptuous dancers, the suave Miami rapper entertained the crowd with a variety of his best known American hits as well as some of his old school classics from his debut album “M.I.A.M.I.” (an abbreviation for Money Is A Major Issue).

Prior to the opening night, we had a chance to sit down with the mega-star and discovered why this concert is especially important to him.

“To me, Vegas is an honor and an amazing opportunity,” Pitbull explained. “But more than anything, because of my family being from Cuba, Havana is what spawned the idea for Vegas. So once everything went down with the revolution in Cuba, everybody shot up to Vegas, you know, Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel and what they did up there. So, to be able to play in Vegas is something that is deeply rooted, a tremendous honor and also a big step in our career.”

Opening his show with a video montage explaining the revolution in Cuba to the audience and relating that to his humble upbringing, Pitbull offered concertgoers insight to his personal life and the meaning behind his Vegas show before even stepping foot on the stage.

However, once the mega-star was ushered onstage via smoke bursts and an unforgettable laser light show, the party kicked up to 11.

“I say, y’all having a good time out there?” Pitbull questioned and the crowd affirmatively answered with a simultaneous wild scream.

“When it comes to the show, it’s all about energy, all about having a great time, for two hours I would say,” said Pitbull. “We are going to try to, in one way or another, give it the Vegas remix but more than anything it’s just all about fun.”

And while we are not perfectly clear on what Pitbull meant by “Vegas remix” we are pretty confident that it had everything to do with energizing effects such the massive fire plumes that shot off when he performed his 2014 smash hit “Fireball.”

Not just fun for the audience, it is very clear that Pitbull loves performing all of his songs, “Fireball” in particular, and it shows: “The number that I think has a lot of ‘Vegas’ to it and even when I perform it on tour, it would be ‘Fireball,’” he said. “I mean, that record right there, I think, embodies everything that has to do with Vegas…Vegas itself being a fireball, Vegas itself being a spot where everybody goes, you know, Sin City – what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas and ‘Fireball,’ to me, has that energy; it’s like evil vs. good so I can’t wait to perform that and really give it that Vegas twist.”
Whether the energetic performer was entertaining the crowds by working every angle of the stage (we want to know his cardio plan because he totally killed it), wowing us with special effects and enticing video displays, or kicking back a little bit while his sexy dancers took control, there was not a single dull moment in this party.
And if you’re hoping to catch Mr. 305 out and about in Sin City, you’ll most likely find him indulging in his favorite Cuban restaurants around town or partying in his hotel room: “I’m more of the low-key type and when it comes to the craziness, I just keep it in the hotel room,” he explained.” “I’m like the Gingerbread Man, catch me if you can!”

So for all of you party animals out there, if you want to add some spice to your Vegas vacay, head down to Planet Hollywood and catch Pitbull while he’s still here. And take this as a fair warning: You will be in party mode long after the show is over.

Upcoming performances: Ticket prices from $70.25, all performances start at 9 p.m.
